What is Berry Street?

The Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) provides strategies for teaching and learning that enables teachers to increase engagement of students with complex, unmet learning needs and to successfully improve all students’ self-regulation, relationships, wellbeing, growth and academic achievement. - Berry Street 

We use BSEM strategies at LPS, to help students learn to notice the way their body is feeling and recognise whether or not they can achieve their personal best at that present moment. We cater for students' needs with a range of different strategies to ensure they are ‘Ready to Learn’. If students aren’t ready to learn, they can use a Brain Break to help them to get ready. Brain Breaks come in two different forms: de-escalation strategies and energisers.
